The Goose 6-7-13
Who ever said "girls just want to have fun" must have been referring to The Goose in Darien last night. From the first sweet tone out of Vince Alto's sax to the crash and burn ending of Revolution, the joint was jumpin'.
No tropical storm could stop the Skunk Rockets from delivering one of it's finest shows to date. It's rumored that last nights show might even have the band traveling to the Windy City to perform. Wow!! Keep an eye on skunkrockets.com for details.
Last but not least, this reporter was very impressed by the food, drink and service at the Goose. From the moment you walk in until the time you leave, the staff made you feel like a long lost friend. This is a truly great American bar and bistro in every sense! God bless the Goose and God bless the Skunk Rockets for an old fashion rock 'n' roll good time!!!

Dry Dock Cafe 4-6-2013
Is the Dry Dock Cafe in Norwalk, CT, the newest place for good music and a great time?? If this past Saturday is any indication, the answer is... YES !!
From the moment you walk in the door to the time you leave, it's nothing short of magical. From Brian the manager, to Lindsey, one of the finest mixologists east of the Hudson, you can't go wrong... Then you add in the Skunk Rockets band... OMG !! I'm still having fun... From the opening verse of Hotel California to the encore of Crossroads, with guest vocalist Clarence Percy of Soul Circus, I'm not sure the dance floor was ever empty.
Jim Haederle, who joined the Skunks on keys and backing vocals, was a sight for sore eyes after all the rumors that he joined the Peace Corps and no longer enjoyed playing music. Well that tall tale can be laid to rest as Jim whipped the crowd into a frenzy when he came out from behind the keys to sing Jenny Jenny with the total confidence we all remember from the early days of Hoi Polloi.
Andy D. Skunk, what can I say?... Even after the smoke cleared from the blown amplifier and the back-up was rushed into service, I overheard a fan of the band say... "authentic, the real deal..." That, my friends, says it all!
Tony Roc, after recovering his cymbals from the local chinese restaurant, who thought they would make great woks, was nothing short of a machine, pounding out the 2 and 4 like a mad man who's cymbals smelled like General Tso's chicken...
Last, but most certainly not least (according to his wife), Mike Kets was also good! No I'm serious... he was really, really good.
In closing: Bravo Dry Dock Cafe and Bravo Skunk Rockets for a great night!!!

Long Ridge Tavern 2-16-13
The Long Ridge Tavern will never be the same! Why you ask? Because 5 skunks came in and rocked it! I'm talking, of course, not about real skunks, but the newest band, and in this writers opinion, one of the best bands to come out of Fairfield County since Vintage Quickies or John Mayer... The Skunk Rockets!!
From the opening chord of 'Hotel California' to the last 18 minute version of 'Grapevine' which left the dancers on the floor gasping for air, I have never seen a band rock it so hard.
Guitarist and lead singer Andy D. Skunk mesmerized the crowd with his ability to control his vocals, and mic bumping dancers, while punching out power chords at the same time.
Drummer Tony Roc was, what can I say, nothing short of brilliant! His drum fills in the Zombie classic 'She's Not There' left me with the feeling that I wish I could bang something that hard and not be told to stop.
Bassist Michael Kets, yes the same Michael Kets that was last seen being held down by police after wanting to kill his old lead singer Kyle Crisp from Vintage Quickies, was like a phoenix rising from the ash! OK maybe more like a drunk getting up from the bar floor. You get the idea, he was fabulous.
Bob Petco! OMG! The man plays his organ like no other man I've ever seen! The highlight had to be the syncopated intro to 'Black Magic Woman' that left even his band mates saying "where the f**k is the one?" whatever that means...
And last, but by no means least... the sexy sax sounds of Vince Alto. His sweet tones that filled the air of the Long Ridge Tavern were orgasmic! Ask any women there! He prowls the floor with his horn looking for his next female victim like a cheetah chasing down a zebra!
In closing, what can I say... the Skunk Rockets ROCK IT !!!!!

Where it all started...
We booked the gig without so much as a name for the band... or even a rehearsal...
We arrived and had to confirm that we were even playing that night because there were nice flyers posted all around for a band called the "Skunk Rockets"...
Who knew... that was us!!!
The rest is history... Thanks Dry Dock... and special thanks to Sharon for coming up with the name Skunk Rockets, and Lindsey for a great first gig flyer and awesome logo!!! She created Cee Lo on 'The Band' page...
